Sweet Cupcake

Published by Natasha under * Digital Chat

Hi everyone

Been a while hey? Hope you are all well!
We’re back at school from today, we had a nice holiday doing as little as possible, Kami and I snuggled in bed till 8 most mornings, some mornings even later than that… heaven!!!

My fabulous DH has also put together a new pc for me.. yay!
so I’m sure you can expect some more from me :)
and as you can see, I’ve been busy updating the blog, gave us a spiffy new look, I’ve also changed the main blog page to only show 2 posts per page - this will speed up the loading and save our bandwidth. If you need to view older posts, use the links at the top, either in archives or browse per category.

This is another one of those actions… you know the ones that really have no point, but Tash kinda thinks it looks cute :)

Threaded Ribbon effect

For Photoshop by Tash

Threaded Ribbon

Create a new image, the size you want your
thread to be.
I am using 3 x 3 inches
Select your rounded rectangle shape tool, and draw the shape in your image.

Using your magic wand tool, click in the centre
of your shape to select it, and press delete.
DO NOT DESELECT!

Select your gradient fill tool (hold your mouse
down over your fill tool - a pop will appear)
Set your foreground and background colours to the colours you want your ribbon
to be.
In your gradient palette, reset your gradients and choose the first one, which
is foreground to background.
(see screenshot below - pay attention to the red arrows and square)

Then in your selection, with your gradient tool
selected, draw out your gradient, from top to bottom and release to apply the
gradient.
Control D, to deselect.
Add a slight drop shadow to your ribbon and a texture if you wish..
Add a new layer and drag it under your ribbon.
Set your foreground colour to black, and select your brush tool, we are going to
brush on holes, I am using a soft round brush.

Layers, merge visible.
And you have a lovely ribbon to thread on your pages.
Rotate your ribbon, resize it smaller, the possibilities are endless.
